About Software Engineering Institution (SEI)
Software Engineering Institute (SEI) at East China Normal University was founded in January 2002. It was one of the first 35 national demonstrative software schools and also the only one approved among the normal universities nationwide. Prof. Jifeng HE, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, is the founding dean of the Institute. The discipline “Software Engineering” was recognized as one of the Shanghai Municipal First-class Subject (Level B) in 2012. In the third China Discipline Ranking in 2012, it came top in the Shanghai ranking, while ranked No. 6 nationwide. In 2016, it was listed as an A-Class discipline in the fourth China Discipline Ranking (top 5% in the country), and in 2019, it was ranked as No. 5 in the list of best Software Engineering Disciplines in China.
In accordance with student-centered, market-oriented strategy and innovation-driven development, the school adheres to the way of internationalized education, market-oriented operation and integration of industry, education and research and cultivates high-level, practical, interdisciplinary and international software talents.
SEI has three departments (Software Science and Technology, Embedded Software and Intelligent System, and Cryptography and Network Security). And it has discipline bases such as National Engineering Research Center for Trustworthy Embedded Software, Shanghai Key Laboratory of Trustworthy Computing, MOE Engineering Research Center of software and hardware co-design and Application, MOE International Joint Lab of Trustworthy Software, and Shanghai Trustworthy Internet of Things Software Collaborative Innovation Center, as well as the Research Center for Cryptography and Security.
SEI has been developing rapidly in recent years. It is formed with a strong faculty team, including 1 Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, 1 tenured professor, 1 faculty member with China National Funds for Distinguished Young Scientists, and 2 faculty member was awarded with the Young Changjiang Scholar (Yangtze River Program) of China. Moreover, 15 SEI faculty members have been awarded by Talent Programs, such as the Program for Outstanding Medical Academic Leaders and the “Dawn”Program of Shanghai Education Commission. Over 10 adjunct professors from well-known universities and research institutions abroad are also working actively, together with SEI for its development and prosperity.

Area of Major Interests：
Priority goes to the following research directions:
1.Software Theory, Software Engineering, Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence Technologies;
2. Network of Things and Smart Cities, Co-design of Intelligent Software and Hardware, EDA,;
3. Cyber Security, Cryptography & Cryptology, Security of Industrial Control Systems, etc.
Other related areas are also welcomed.
Qualifications & Salary and Fringe Benefits
Applicants should have the willingness to foster virtue through education. They should have both ability and moral integrity, rigorous academic spirit, enthusiasm for education, and great team-work competence.
Academic Leaders
1.Candidates should be under the age 55;
2.Applicants are expected to have rich academic backgrounds, and achieve scientific results with high impacts world-wide. An honorary title of national talent programs is required.
3. Applicants should have already acquired national talent programs, such as “Distinguished Professors of Yangtze Scholars Program”, “National Ten-thousand Experts Plan” Leading Talents, China National Funds for Distinguished Young Scientists, etc.
4.Salary and Fringe benefits can be negotiated.
Zijiang Outstanding Young Scholars
1.Candidates should be under age 40, with doctor’s degree or post-doctor experience from a high-level overseas university or research institution;
2.Associate professor or equivalent position (or above) in overseas universitites or institutes is required, with some influential academic attainments and the willingness to become academic leaders in the future;
3.Candidates are expected to have attained National-level Young Talent Programs or equivalent.
4.Within 6 years, the candidates should be selected by one of the followings: “Distinguished Professors of Yangtze Scholars Program”, “National Ten-thousand Experts Plan” Leading Talents, “National Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars”, or equivalent programs.
5.An annual payment above 500,000 RMB; housing subsidies and research start-up funds can be negotiated.
Zijiang Young Scholars
1.Candidates should be under age 35, with over 12 months experience of teaching and research/post-doctor experience from a high-level overseas university or research institution; some influential academic attainments and great potential of development;
2.Within 6 years, the candidate is expected to attain National-level Young Talent Programs or equivalent, or being promoted to professor position or equivalent;
3.An annual payment above350,000 RMB; housing subsidies and research start-up funds can be negotiated.
Professors and Associate Professors (including Associate Professors (tenure- track))
1.Candidates for Professor position should be under age 45, for associate professor position should be under 35, and should have attained a high reputation in the related field;
2.Remuneration package of the corresponding professional titles will be offered (including housing subsidies and start-up funds, etc.)
